Beschreibung
Birds 1967 by Design House Stockholm brings to life a flock of hand-painted wooden figurines designed by celebrated Swedish ceramicist Lisa Larson. Conceived during a formative stay in Sausalito, California in 1967, the birds were born from Larson's fascination with the vivid colors and exotic patterns of Mexican folk art, filtered through the flower-power spirit of the era. Left unproduced for decades, these charming characters have now been resurrected and are, at last, free to roam.
Each figurine is crafted from solid beech and finished with water-based paint, showcasing the bold, high-keyed colors and oversized patterns that defined Larson's original gouache designs. The collection is offered in eight distinct versions — No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6, No. 7, No. 8 — each carrying its own personality while sharing the same playful spirit and Mexican-inspired palette.
Measuring 16 cm in width, 7 cm in depth, and 16 cm in height, and weighing just 0.29 kg, each bird is a compact yet striking presence, equally at home on a shelf, sideboard, or styled among other decorative objects. To keep it looking its best, simply wipe with a dry cloth and avoid prolonged sun exposure, which may cause the colors to fade.
More than a decorative object, Birds 1967 is a tribute to a pivotal moment in design history — a reminder of Lisa Larson's boundless creativity and the joyful defiance of a generation that dreamt in color. A piece of Scandinavian design heritage, reimagined for today.
