Design House Stockholm Layer Sideboard

Design House Stockholm presents the Layer Sideboard, a minimalist yet expressive piece of furniture designed by Mathieu Gustafsson. Conceived as a subtle play with geometry, the sideboard is not entirely open nor completely closed, its exposed slits inviting curiosity about the contents hidden within. Free of handles, the design relies instead on small openings that allow the doors to be slid open or shut, keeping the surface clean and uninterrupted.

The exposed grain of the oak veneer is arranged in horizontal and vertical patterns, lending the piece a distinct graphic character while accentuating its surfaces and directions. Built on a base structure of massive oak, Layer combines voluminosity, dynamics, and rhythm with exact proportions, resulting in a cabinet that feels both sculptural and functional. It can stand alone with its back exposed or be placed against a wall, making it equally suited to a home, an office, a hotel lobby, or a restaurant.

Crafted from FSC™-certified solid oak, with a body of MDF and polyurethane-lacquered FSC™-certified oak veneer, the Layer Sideboard measures 120 cm in width, 40 cm in depth, and 82 cm in height, weighing 41 kg. It is offered in Oak, Dark Oak, and Red, allowing the piece to adapt to a variety of interior styles while retaining its signature layered expression.

Ideal for storing kitchenware, books, or treasured objects, Layer transforms everyday storage into a refined design statement. Simply wipe with a damp cloth to maintain its appearance over time.
