Gubi Dédal Shelf

The Gubi Dédal Shelf in Stone Grey Semi Matt represents a masterpiece of mid-century design innovation. Created by renowned designer Mathieu Matégot in 1955, this iconic shelf embodies his pioneering vision for combining metal tubing with perforated metal sheet—a revolutionary pairing that defined an era of modern design.

What makes the Dédal Shelf truly exceptional is its elegant simplicity paired with sophisticated functionality. The design harnesses the structural integrity of metal's hardness while maintaining the visual lightness of perforated sheet, creating a piece that feels both substantial and airy. This balance of opposing qualities demonstrates Matégot's deep understanding of material properties and aesthetic refinement.

The Dédal Shelf's genius lies in its modular versatility. Though each shelf appears deceptively simple in form, the graphical shapes are carefully proportioned to complement one another. When multiple shelves are grouped together or juxtaposed, they create a striking geometric pattern that transforms your wall into a dynamic composition. This interplay of form and negative space elevates the shelf from mere storage solution to architectural statement.

The Stone Grey Semi Matt finish adds contemporary sophistication while honoring the shelf's vintage heritage. This neutral tone integrates seamlessly into diverse interior schemes, from minimalist Scandinavian spaces to eclectic modern environments.

The Dédal Shelf stands as a testament to timeless design—a piece that has remained relevant for nearly seven decades because it prioritizes honest materials, functional beauty, and the transformative power of thoughtful composition.
