Serax Collage Cast Iron Teapot

The Serax Collage Cast Iron Teapot brings a refined, sculptural presence to the table, reinterpreting the traditional Japanese teapot through a contemporary design lens. Crafted from solid cast iron, it features a matt black finish on the outside paired with an enamel coating on the inside, resulting in a piece that is as durable as it is visually striking. The interplay of raw material and smooth glaze reflects the thoughtful balance of form, function and material that defines the entire Collage collection.

Designed by Giel Dedeurwaerder and Brent Neve of the designer collective Utilise.objects, this teapot was created as part of a wider tea service that also includes cups in solid acacia wood. The combination of warm wood tones and indestructible cast iron gives the collection its distinctive character, merging durability with everyday functionality and understated aesthetic appeal. This dedication to considered design earned the Collage tea service the Henry Van de Velde Award 2019 in the Habitat category.

Measuring 20 cm in length, 17.5 cm in width and 8 cm in height, with a capacity of 120 cl, this teapot is generously sized for shared moments of tea drinking. It weighs 3.21 kg, lending it a reassuring, substantial feel in hand. The piece is food-safe, though not suitable for dishwasher, microwave or oven use.

As many Serax designs are finished by hand, slight irregularities may occur, adding to the individual character of each teapot. Designed to be displayed as much as used, the Collage teapot is a lasting addition to any tableware collection.
