The Ono 1 Sofa by Serax is a striking piece from the furniture collection designed by Ann Demeulemeester and Patrick Robyn, conceived as a piece of 'active' seating that invites several different ways of sitting. Elongated lines, deep upholstery and tactile fabrics combine with an unexpected slant to the seat, while the design hugs close to the ground on thick oak legs — a solid, wide plank with curved ends at the front, and two slender columns at the rear that appear to rise up through indents in the seat upholstery, disappearing into the back cushion for a secure and supportive construction. This distinctive detailing means the Ono 1 remains visually interesting from every angle, not just from the front.

Crafted from oak with upholstered finishes, the Ono 1 is available in a considered palette that reflects Demeulemeester's unexpected approach to colour, including Coco Natural / Oak Stained Black, Licot Black / Oak Natural, Licot Black / Oak Stained Black, Velvet Fern / Oak Brown, Velvet Grey & Linen Black / Oak Stained Black, Velvet Rose & Linen Black / Oak Stained Black, Velvet Shade / Oak Natural, and Velvet Tangerine / Oak Brown. Fabrics are exclusively woven in Belgium for this collection, and the wood is finished with a sprayed lacquer or water-based stain, allowing for easy cleaning with a slightly damp cloth.

Measuring 95 cm in length, 64 cm in width and 74 cm in height, and weighing 38 kg, the Ono 1 is designed for indoor, dry environments. As with all pieces in the collection, natural variations in the wood and handcrafted finishing are considered part of each piece's individual character.
