Sowden PL4 Portable Table Lamp

Designed by George Sowden, the Sowden PL4 is a low, mushroom-shaped table lamp built around a clever Dual Functionality system. Compact and sculptural, it measures just 18 cm in width and 15.5 cm in height, pairing a soft pink silicone shade with a yellow foot for a playful yet refined presence on any surface.

At the heart of the PL4 is a USB connection that allows it to draw power directly from an outlet or from Sowden's own Li-ion batteries. Plugged in, it performs as a traditional table lamp; unplugged, it switches automatically to battery power, transforming into a fully portable light source ready to move wherever it's needed. A full recharge takes approximately four hours via USB when the lamp is switched off.

The PL4 features an integrated Sowden LED disc light source with a warm color temperature of 3000 K. It is dimmable and replaceable, offering flexibility in both ambiance and long-term maintenance. The silicone shade plays a key functional role as well, diffusing the light into a soft, warm glow while resisting wear to maintain its appearance over time.

Versatile by design, the PL4 is suitable for use in both indoor spaces and outdoor dry environments, making it an adaptable companion for terraces, patios, and covered outdoor areas, as well as living rooms, bedrooms, and workspaces. Its combination of thoughtful engineering and distinctive form reflects Sowden's signature approach to functional, expressive design.
